CHRONOMETER COMPASS IN TIMBER BOX
This is a gimballed compass styled on a ships chronometer. The compass is in a solid brass casing which is gimballed for maintaining accurate reading at all times. The magnetised dial is air dampened. The whole assembly is then suspended in a timber box. The box has a clear glass view from the top & is embellished with polished brass.
