Gallery price would be vicinity of $500.00, however is offered with a low starting price and NO RESERVE.Born in Creswick, Victoria, in 1874, Lionel Lindsay studied at the National Gallery School in Melbourne. Known as a writer and an art administrator, he worked for some time as a freelance journalist and artist, contributing to such publications as the 'Bulletin'. He became well known for his etchings and woodcuts as well as for his watercolour paintings. As a trustee of the
Art Gallery of New South Wales he was a major supporter of Sir William Dobell during the Joshua Smith controversy. He was knighted in 1941. He is well represented in all major collections, as well as a substantial collection in the in the Lionel Lindsay Gallery in Toowoomba, Queensland. He died in 1961
